The Precious

I was weak.

I wanted The Precious.

Les Fleurs de Printemps Necklace is now mine.

I feel a bit guilty.
But not very.:)

Let me know if you would like me to create one for you.
Or your Mom.

I received at least 10 compliments on it today.  I was so flattered.

These are the yummy cuties you can choose from.

And these.

Send your sweetie over if you would like one for Mother's Day.  Guys love hints.
$21.99 and beautifully wrapped for gift giving.

Give him my e-mail (toosillysisters@cox.net)
He won't mind.:)

Professor Noggin, Weight Watchers and the Royal Wedding

I'm sitting here with my tongue rubbing the inside of my mouth.
Stupid pizza.

I had my first french pedicure today.
Not worthy of a photo shoot but I do feel a bit prettier.
After the torture I went through I'd better.
Why do some pedicurists (Is that a word?) insist on performing what feels like surgical procedures?
I was afraid to look at my feet so I just kept flipping the pages of my magazine.
I have been known to pass out at the salon.
But not today!

I cried.
Did you?

Due back at the library in 4 days.  I have waited so long to get it.  Is it worth my time?

We had our first experience with Professor Noggin's games last night.  Very educational and so FUN!  Easy/Hard questions on cards that feature a work of art.  I knew more than I thought and yet I was in last place!  There are other games in this series and I plan on ordering more.  Great for home schooling and keeping your kids "sharp" during the summer months.:)

Still speed walking 3 miles every day.
I am weakening on my diet, though.
I think I may have to resort to Weight Watchers.
Anyone had success doing it on-line?

The Nature Connection

The sun graced us with all it's glory today.
It was the perfect day to start our nature study with The Nature Connection.

As we listened, drew pictures and wrote the sun warmed our backs and the breeze ruffled our hair.  Katie asked me if we could do this every day because "she loved it".  Words every home schooling Mom wants to hear!

Mandy chose writing as her way of observing.  There is no wrong way.  Then she got out her camera and took pictures of the mushrooms that had set up shop in our backyard by way of the recent torrential rains.

We learned the calls of the Redwing Blackbird and the Cardinal.  Broken eggs were sited (new baby birds! Killdeer?) but a robin's nest was also destroyed during the rain storms and 5 baby birds will not be learning to fly this year.

The Nature Connection is wonderful in that it guides your study of the outdoors but it lets you make it your own.  Each day is a new adventure!

The girls challenged each other at the end of the day to see who could remember the most observations. Nothing like a good friendly challenge to motivate!

I even made my own observations. I truly did not want to go inside.   I am hoping to incorporate this into our daily school work.  The fresh air and peace of the outdoors is just what frazzled Moms and cranky kids need.  Actually, we could all benefit from it.

I recommend buying a copy of this book for you and your child(ren).  Summer would be the perfect time to start a nature study whether you home school or not.  I purchased one copy on ebay and one on amazon.  I believe it is around $10.  It's a lovely way to spend time together.

The Voice, Les Mis and Blue Jean Dreams...

Loved watching this the other night.
Did you watch it?
Loved the big boy with the BIG voice who lost his Mom a few months ago.
Lots of talent there and no one is excluded by their looks.
Genius.
Heather- I will call you to discuss!

We are all going to see this next month.  I am SO excited!  Yes, my girls are young but they will be transcended by the music and the story.  Ear plugs will come out during Master of the House- lol!

The Evangeline Necklace.
Going in my shop later today.
I may keep it, though.
I love the chiffon, pearls and sparkle.

Blue Jean Dreams Necklace.
In the shop.
I can just see this with your favorite jeans.
Perfect, without even having to try.:)

The storms have stopped but so much devastation has been left in it's wake.  Please be praying for all the people who have lost loved ones and their homes.  Be so thankful for all your blessings...

The Help!

August 12th. Who is coming with me? I'll bring the peanut M&M's.:)

Love in a Time of Homeschooling

***Stop by here!  Victoria is having a "Queen for a Day" Giveaway and it is fabulous!***

April Showers may bring May flowers but it feels like it is bringing a flood here instead.
So we spent the weekend inside listening to the thunder and rain.
Snuggled under blankets we read books.
I just started this with my girls.
It is sweet-even for a 13 year old.:)

I am reading this.
One woman's adventure homeschooling her daughter for one year.
Funny and informative.
Her daughter has so much in common with my oldest!
I am taking notes and plan to implement many of her ideas into my teaching.
Very real and entertaining!

Step away from the Easter basket.
Yes, you.
Peanut butter eggs should be against the law.
Don't get me started on Cadbury eggs.
I am avoiding Wal Mart until all the clearance Easter candy is gone.

Check out this giveaway at Katie Evans Photography!  She is giving away an e-book!  What a talented photographer!

Help Bring Sergey Home!

I just donated here.  Such a wonderful cause to bring this sweet baby home! I am offering two of my Matryoshka necklaces as part of the giveaway prizes!  Go. Donate. Thank You!

Hallelujah! Christ arose!

Praise the Lord!  He lives!

Happy Easter Sunday, dear friends.  As you enjoy your family, food, Easter egg hunts and candy today, please don't forget the sacrifice God and Jesus made for us.  God gave His only son so that we could everlasting life.  It's too tremendous for us to even fathom.  I am overwhelmed at the grace of Jesus in his dying words, "Forgive them Lord, they know not what they do."

Hallelujah! Christ arose!

Autograph Bags

This week was our last Nancy Drew class.
I wanted the girls to make something that would remind them of all the fun we had.
Autograph Bags! The perfect size for Nancy Drew books.

They were free to create as they pleased and most opted for a design on one side and signatures on the other side.
I loved the buttons on this one.

Glue guns, paint pens, and yard sale trim kept the girls busy for quite awhile!

The next time we meet will be our mystery party.

I will play Sabrina Strake- actress.:)

We made George's Cobbler as our snack.
It was easy and so good.

I would like to host this class again this summer.
It's just a question of time.
Never enough of it.

Such fun we have had.
It's getting harder to stump the girls during our quiz time!
Some read the books a couple of times and even sticky note the pages!
Truthfully I think they know the books better than me.
Love that they love Nancy, too.:)

Initials- fabulous.

I can tell that the girls have grown and changed the past few months.

I am so blessed to have spent this time with them.

They grow up so fast.

Ticks at 2 AM

My English sister, Lindsay.
What a wonderful week we spent together! Profiteroles, garage sales, chatting, tea, Target, Joann's, alligators, Slurpees, Bandaids, Esmerelda the bulldog, Mimi's and the strange waiter, Borders, and more.
Lindsay is a *love*- pure and simple.
I fell apart at the airport when we had to go.
We miss her and her sweet family.
We need to jump across the pond- soon!

2 AM.
Tick Time.
Pulling with tweezers did not work. That sucker was IN there! Liquid soap *does not* smother (like the internet told me) them but a hot match kills them. Too bad they don't pull their head out before they go to tick heaven! sigh. (I finally got it out by pulling with tweezers, but what an ordeal!)

On my toes.
Cajun Shrimp.
Opi.
A new favorite.
Newman's Light Balsamic Vinaigrette.
Yum in a bottle.
Try it on your next salad.
You'll be glad you did.

Crazy weather all day.
Hail, thunder and lightening.
Great day for watching Fried Green Tomatoes.
Kathy Bates and Jessica Tandy were amazing in the movie.
Kindred spirits- both of them.
Wonder how they would handle a tick at 2 AM?

The Curiosity Files- Red Tides review

I was recently given the wonderful opportunity to review The Curiosity Files Red Tide E-book!

I love Science so this was a true pleasure for me! The Curiosity Files has many different E-books to choose from and they are wonderful for home schooling as well as a way to supplement learning during the summer months.

The Curiosity Files are designed for children 8-13 (which is perfect for my girls!) but it can easily be adapted to younger/older siblings. They even have activities for children with special needs so there is something for everyone! I loved that! Each study is between 80-100 pages and are available from The Old Schoolhouse Store.

The Red Tide study was fascinating. The pictures were gorgeous and the activities were very user friendly. In other words, very easy on Mom! There 91 pages included Science, Spelling, History, Copy work, Writing activities, Math, and Geography. There were even fun activities and ideas for reinforcing what you learned! How many curriculums include a board game? This one did!:)

We used The Curiosity Files Red Tides to supplement our Ocean Animals study. It worked very well for both my 8 year old and 13 year old. I would recommend it to everyone as all ages are covered with different spelling lists and activities for older and younger children. It was interesting learning about something we had never heard about before. Red Tides are dangerous for ocean animals but they are also dangerous to humans!

The Curiosity Files are $6.95 but also sold in bundles for a special price. Some of the other studies are Zombie Fire Ants, MRSA, Blue Diamonds, The Blue-Footed Booby, and Quicksand. They take the unusual and interesting and make them FASCINATING!

We returned home to this.

It would be lovely to live on vacation.
But there is truly no place like home.:)
