Making the Best of Things

We spent the night in a strange basement.
Mandy's face says it all.

The weather was bad.  More than bad- It was
 really, really bad.
I begged the Lord to not let this basement
 be our tomb.
I know that sounds extremely grim, but it's
 the truth.

My family could not believe I had brought my
 camera.
My camera is like my third eye.  It goes where
 I go.

It was a last minute decision so we grabbed
what we could and hit the road.
Nancy Drew was an idea to pass the time but
in the end we did not need her.

God made this night a party for my girls.
There were friends to be made and bubbles to
  be blown.
The new friends were even home schooled.
  God thinks of everything.

Sweet Ruby tagged along as we knew the cat
 could take care of himself.
I'm sure he was thrilled to have the evening
to do as he pleased.  To walk on the kitchen
counters or do whatever he does when we are
 not there.

There I sat with my cell phone, no make-up
on and a serious craving for a Coke Icee.
Only a few adults were brave enough to
approach me. (I looked bad, ladies.)
The kids were not afraid, though.
At least 12 kids came over to pet Ruby.
She was such a sweet distraction.
 Love my little Ru.

I thanked God over and over for keeping us
 safe.
I thanked my friends for being there for me on
 facebook and through texts.
It was a strange but wonderful night and one
 that I did not foresee.

I am so glad that God is the driver in my
  life.
He blessed me with the most wonderful husband
who does the worrying for me.  His hugs can
  cure anything.:)
He blessed me with children that can adapt
and make the best of things- even when it's
  bad.
He blessed me with amazing, caring parents
that are there whenever I need them.
He blessed me with you, dear friends, that
listen to my drippy posts and still love me.
  (Love you, too.)

I don't think the cat moved the whole time
  we were gone.

My girls want to go back to the basement.
  They had fun.
  Thank you, dear God.

Summer Camp at Home

**My facebook giveaway ends at midnight tonight.  Custom made Reflections of Me Necklace is up for grabs.  Good Luck!**

The weather here has been insane.
It sounds like a war is going on around us.
Summer needs to get here-soon.

I am looking forward to camping.
In the backyard.
Maybe even... in the woods.
I know, I am shocking myself!

   I want to make crafts.
I have one that loves, and one that doesn't.
 Everyone loves pet rocks, though.
 Right?

   Reading.
I wish I had 2 extra hours every day just
   for this purpose.
Treasure Island is going to happen this
   summer.
It's featured in the book "Read It and Eat"
   (below)
We shall do just that with the recipes
   included.

The girls want to run a Snow Cone stand this
 summer.
 My idea.:)
 Snow Cones rock.

   Another wonderful book.
If you have not read it, you must.
Precious stories about a family with 5 little
 girls.
It takes place 100 years ago.
The first story is about a lost library book.
100 years ago that was a tragedy!
   Enjoy.

I am reading this right now.
   Love. It.
They are making into a movie, as they
   should.
Modern day romance with lots of giggles.
The lady can cook, write, and make people
   laugh.
   She's cute.
She also home schools her children.

I want to hate her but I'd rather be her
   friend.:)

I want to read all the books featured in
  this book.
Great books and the recipes are a bonus.
Wish you all lived closer and we could start
   a book club.
You don't mind driving a couple hours to my
   house do you?
I'll let you pet my pug...

I also want to start a summer camp of sorts... at home.  A craft, some games, a snack, shaving cream "fights", a movie, etc.  I love these ideas.   I would host one day and then pass my kids on to another friend's house the next week.  This way each Mom could have a few free days to themselves.

Let me know if you are in.:)

Happiness is Summertime

Happiness is Summertime.

35 inches long.  That just does not sound
  right. (blush)

The necklace is really long.  Love that.  No
 skimping here.

You can wear it long or double it up as a
choker.  I love choices, don't you?

Makes you feel like you've just been kissed
  properly.:)

Make your Teacher Smile

*Check out my facebook giveaway.:)*

I loved being a teacher.

My students are all grown up now.
Their memories of me are long gone but I
   will never forget them.

These are a few custom orders I have been
    working on.
    For teachers.

I would be happy to create one for you.

                 Apple mugs are sweet.
Trust me, teachers have more than a few.
Jewelry is a lovely surprise and sure to
put a smile on her face.:)
                 $16.99
Beautifully wrapped and ready to give.

"He will come when you don't think He will come."

      Today was hard.

Did you wonder if it was the final day?

Someone very dear to me was extremely
frightened by all the hype.

Facebook was full of funny comments. I
  giggled.
Then I read some negative comments about
  "true believers".
  It hurt.
I wanted SO badly to write something hateful.

I am truly glad that I held back.

A few of my friends are non-believers.
   They worship gods and goddesses.
Growing up, I had never heard of such a  thing.

Those same friends were at churches today.
Having second thoughts, I believe, and they
   were searching for answers.
   It's a start.:)

I need to take the negative energy I felt
about the unkind statements and turn it
      into something positive.
I need to pray for my lost friends.
        I mean really pray.
They are good people and I love them.

I can't even begin to understand how Jesus
felt when the Romans mocked Him.

"Forgive them Lord, they know not what they
  do."
     Grace, pure and simple.

Today is over and we are still here.

I didn't think that today was The End.
It made me take stock of my life, though.

We are so blessed that God forgives.
He loves us and created us.
Thank goodness, He doesn't expect us to be
    perfect.:)

Matt. 24:42, 44, "He will come when you don't

 think He will come."

No stress, no worries, just live each day in a

 way that glorifies your Lord.
