About Me

My photo
Mysteries, polka dots, California Rolls, TJ Maxx, cozy blankets, rainy days and getting the first spoonful of peanut butter out of the jar make me smile. Spiders, rude people, cold fingers and toes, baby leashes, people that don't wrap their packages before going to the Post Office, poison ivy and Math (pretty much all of it) make me want to scream. My perfect day would be spent with my wonderful husband and sweet girls- watching movies in our jammies! Of course, having the movie theater to ourselves would be great, too. Please pass the popcorn and M&M's.:) I am saved by the grace of God. He is my constant companion and hears my every prayer. What a blessing! I'd love to hear from you! Dear Crock Pot,

My lowly crock pot.
How I love thee.

We received two for our wedding and returned them both.
I thought they were tacky.

I was so young.

Look what I can make with one now...

Crock Pot Triple Chocolate Mess:

1 package chocolate (or vanilla) cake mix
1 pint sour cream (2 cups for those of you that don't know what a pint is. Not that this happened to me or anything.)
1 small package instant chocolate pudding (or vanilla!)
1 small bag chocolate chips
3/4 cup oil
4 eggs
1 cup water

Spray your dear crock pot with non-stick spray. Mix all ingredients. Pour into crock pot. Cook on low for 4-5 hours. Leave your house and return home to the most mouth watering aroma. You're welcome.:)

I am off to enjoy my vanilla version. Vanilla rocks.

Chain Smoking and Dribbling Pitchers

I have to say...

If smoking and drinking made me look like this, I would be a chain smoking alcoholic.

I loved my blown-out, flat ironed hair 2 days ago...
but my curls have now gone into hiding leaving a big puff in their place.
Not good.

that I will never find a non-dribbling pitcher.
Do they make bibs for pitchers?
If you'd like a dribbling pitcher you will find this one at my local Goodwill.

that I am SUPER excited about my new Kindle! Jeff and the girls got it for me for my birthday. I am agonizing over which book will be my first. I'm crazy like that.

there is a winter storm heading our way! They are calling for 7-15 inches. Won't happen. You would think I would miss school or something. That little girl part of me will never grow up.:)

Off to buy groceries, just in case we get that 15 inches.

Reflection of You necklaces

I am now taking orders for my Reflection of You necklaces...

You design them yourself, because they are custom made for you.

Choose your initial and a favorite theme that says "you"....
Perhaps a fairy, an owl, ballet shoes if you love to dance, or the Eiffel Tower if you love to travel. A flower if you have a passion for gardening, a seashell for the beach lover, dice if you love BUNCO!

Creating your necklace is half the fun, the other half is wearing it.:)

And don't forget to add a bit of sparkle! I will add your favorite color Swarovski crystal or a freshwater pearl. It's all up to you...

Sterling silver ball chain Custom Reflection of You necklace- $22.99
Snake Chain (non sterling)- $16.99

Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, Author of SeaBiscuit

I am half way through this book and it is horrifying, moving, inspiring and beautiful all at the same time. I will never look at a veteran the same way again. I want to run and hug each and every one of them. We are so blessed to have a Lord that loves us and a strong military with men and women that are willing to fight for our freedom. Next time you think that you are having a bad day, think of Louis Zamperini. Bet you change your mind.

Flipping through old magazines...
Martha Stewart has some lovely ideas for January.

Peruse seed catalogs, and plan Spring plantings.

What are you planning on doing the rest of the month?

Sweetness

A nail salon for little girls.

Why didn't I think of this?

I wouldn't mind painting tiny fingers and toes.
Grown-up toes. No way.

This little cutie is ready to be someone's valentine...

Brownies on my Mind

Thinking of making my first rag quilt.

Listening to Katie singing in the other room.:)

Dreaming of a room like this. My kitchen walls are this color.
Now I just need to find the lovely light fixture and the gorgeous curtains.
Look at the pillows!
(I wish I could remember where I found this picture.)

Getting ready to watch this. We are studying Spartacus.
Surprised?

Reading this.
Amazing and true story.

Wanting this. Badly.
Think my sweetie will read my blog in time?:)

Naps are a Good Thing

Winter makes me want to do a lot of this. But we are also busy doing other things...

We are preparing to go see these dear friends...

and to go to Disney with these dear friends! (We will
be dining at The Coral Reef in Epcot (below) one night.)

We have been preparing for Valentine's Day. (Mailboxes at the Dollar Section of Target.)

I have been "broadening my horizons" thanks to Netflix.
If it snows for the next month and we can't go anywhere I am set- as long as the electricity
doesn't go out.
I stocked up on popcorn and hot chocolate- just in case.

Just another reason we have not been skiing.

What is with these lines? Grrr....
I have been teaching little girls how to "pay a call". We are studying Samantha, an American Girl. Tea, cookies and cucumber tea sandwiches were part of the lesson.

We created our own calling cards and mailboxes and then delivered them. Delightful.

What have you been up to?

Lucky Me!

I have had a bit of a lucky streak lately! I won two giveaways!
One from Christy, who writes the most amazing book reviews of the most fabulous books.
I want to be her when I grow up.
She introduced me to Paws Up where I someday hope to go "Glamping".
She's also a sweetheart.:)
Look at the book! I cannot wait to start reading it!
Thanks, Christy!

And Sherri- my dear friend who loves to read and creates the loveliest jewelry.
I wish we were neighbors so we could drink tea and knit together. We could also share beads and books!
She belongs to the coolest book club where authors come to visit. They even got to talk with the author of "The Help"! Unreal.

Sherri had a blogiversary giveaway and I won! How gorgeous are these earrings?? I mean really, I think green is my new favorite color.:)

She also creates lovely bookmarks! Look at the stunning blue and green ribbon complete with a stack of books charm (so me!) and an "L" with a little bird! It took my breath away!

Thank you, Sherri! I loved my package!:)
