Today, the girls and I took these...
and these...
to our local animal shelter. It's one of our Christmas traditions and we always look forward to going. How I wish we could give all the dogs and cats a nice home! We got our cat, Snookie, at a shelter years ago and he is such a great pet. We fell in love with a couple of little sweeties today, too. I could've sworn I saw a few of the dogs smile as they ate their snacks.:) If you get some free time, or just want to escape the holiday rush, think of stopping by your local animal shelter. The animals are so starved for attention and would love to see you...
That is too sweet!! Oh, I watched The Family Stone tonight and thought it was very good, but could have done without the bad language. The funny thing is, they bleeped the s-word and the b-word, but let GD fly. What?!?!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!!

I have sent things to our shelter before but I have to send my hubby and Lexi in....it just breaks my heart to see all those animals. We already are getting a zoo so I certainly don't need to fall in LOVE at first sight.....sigh......
ReplyDeletesuch sweet ladies!! I think I just might do that!
ReplyDeleteoh, what a fantastic idea! i'll have to do this with my lil sweeties. :)
ReplyDeletelove your blog, too!
merry christmas!
What a SWEET idea! It's hard to walk out of there empty handed! I always want to take a little fur ball home with me.
ReplyDeleteWe were just at our local animal shelter the other day for a tour and to donate some goodies too.
ReplyDeleteyou know that is a great idea. We also take old collars and leashes, towels and bath mats...anything they can lay on instead of the concrete. BUT, we've never gone during the holidays.......so this sounds like the perfect time to start.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea....We got our first dog at an animal shelter! It would be hard to leave the cuties there!
ReplyDeleteHi Lori,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful tradition! All of our animals are from shelters or unwanted in some way. I find it so hard to visit shelters because it just breaks my heart. I want to bring them all home! Thank you for being brave and visiting the sweet creatures there and for instilling a love of animals in your girls!
Happy Holidays to you and your family!
annie
What a good idea! The holidays are such a hectic time. Those down months such as January would also be a great time to go.
ReplyDeleteAwwww- Lori... we do the same thing for our Boxer rescue where we rescued our Boxers. We played "Santa Paws" last year and took the dogs with us too for a Road Trip. We go to BRLA (Boxer Rescue Los Angeles) and drop off 2 or 3 40 lbs. of dog food and big bags of treats and some chew toys to keep them company in their kennels. It's a No Kill non-profit organization and we help out as much as we can. The volunteers do a fab job giving of their time. I would bring them ALL home if I could. We're hoping we can make it out this soon, for this year. Just hoping that the highways don't close due to Snow. We're expecting another snow storm to hit Monday (Dec. 22nd) and we want to make it out there by Xmas Eve or sooner! *fingers crossed*
ReplyDeleteHugs to you and your family for doing a nice Act of Kindness.... it does great for the soul!
Hugs & Faerie Dust!
Hi Lori
ReplyDeleteThat's such a kind thing to do. I would have to leave the treats at the gates because if I went inside I would have to bring them all home with me!
You are so thoughtful my friend.
Best Wishes
Lindsay
What a wonderful idea! My friends daughter is now fostering a mother dog and her nine pups!! Yes 9! I think I will pick up some food, biscuits or treats and give them to her! Thanks for the idea!
ReplyDeleteThat is sooo sweet of you all to share the love with the shelter animals! I'll bet they were smiling!
