We woke up early Saturday morning to start Father's Day weekend off with a Chugga Chugga Toot! Toot! All Aboard!
These is first class, where we sat...
The train dropped us off for a few hours in the sweetest little town. There were lots of antiques and the nicest people! I thought this bird cage was precious...
The girls loved the honey shop! The gentleman had everything you needed to start your own bee hives plus preserves, lotion and, of course, honey!
Here's a picture outside the little store. Even with the bee shortage, the owner told us that he has never had so many bees. His business is booming and we could not have been happier for him. He was the nicest man...
The train trip was so much fun. The girls played Pokemon and the Polly Pocket card (thanks Grandma and Ba!) game. Jeff and I even got in on the action! I made a few phone calls (Amy, Angi, Heather, Mom!) and even got to read awhile...
This gentleman kept us entertained and nourished through out the trip. He sang old Irish songs, told jokes, gave history lessons, played the harmonica, juggled, etc... He was so charming! At one point we entered a tunnel and he turned out all the lights (for the full effect). I was a bit anxious about this, but as we first entered the tunnel he said, "If anyone is not having fun, please raise your hand." I just had to laugh! It was DARK!
It seems like you all had a really nice time! I have always wanted to take a train ride somewhere fun! There is a train from Silverton, CO and it goes to several towns-I'd love to do that!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful surprise for your hubby! Looks like everyone had a fabulous time!

ReplyDeleteHi Lori
ReplyDeleteThis looks like the perfect Father's Day treat. What an amazing experience for you all. I loved seeing the inside of the train and the entertainer too. The shops you got to visit looked lovely. The quilt was beautiful and the old book shop very interesting. I often lose Tim and Jessica in shops like that. I laughed at the picture of Jeff asleep on the train, that is so Tim too!

Oh my gosh, how adorable! That train is exquisite - I didn't think any existed like that anymore. Can you imagine hosting a murder mystery on one of those?? And the town is so charming - where is it? Good choice, Lor.
