A Colorful Way to Start Your Day

Day 3 of Green Smoothies for breakfast.
I was soooooo skeptical, ladies.

Add all the fruits you like (frozen bananas are divine!) and spinach, of course.
A bit of yogurt (half an individual serving size) and apple juice (1 cup) make it sweeter.
A packet of Stevia, if you like.

Y.U.M.!

I also tried a smoothie with Better N' Peanut Butter (It's not, but way less fat and still tastes good- found at Target), 2 TB cocoa powder, frozen bananas, spinach, yogurt, milk and stevia.  Also yummy!

Do you have a favorite Green Smoothie recipe?

  1. Look at you Miss Healthy! As your big sister I have to ask if you're washing you fruit and veggies with vinegar? It takes all the bad stuff off them. I just get a BIG bowl, fill it with water, add a 1/4 to 1/2 cup of vinegar and let the fruit and veggies sit in there for about 15 minutes. Then I take them out and let them dry on paper towels or just regular towels. I wash ALL my veggies and fruit even watermelons. I know what I'm about to tell you sounds terrible but you don't know if someone has peeped (that's what Noelle calls it) on them. If you cut the melons with a knife the bad stuff can get on the fruit. Plus the vinegar gets the pesticides off. I do this even with my organic fruit and veggies, salad mix etc etc. Okay, I'm done being the big bossy sister-Go enjoy that yummy healthy smoothie you beautiful thing!

  3. Robin- Such good information! I certainly don't want to eat any fruit that has been "peeped" on! LoL! Does the vinegar affect the taste? I bet it just evaporates as it dries. Thank you so much for your advice, Robin. And your sweet words! Love you bunches! Lori

  4. Tristan- I LOVE that you won another book! You are such a dear friend and faithful follower- you deserve it! You may want to read it first before giving it to Blakelee. There isn't anything inappropriate but it may be a bit much for her to take in right now. Katie wasn't quite ready for some things she read. tee hee... It will all be coming soon enough, though!:( Lori

  5. I use apple cider vinegar and don't notice a taste...BUT you can rinse the fruit after the vinegar wash if you notice a taste. My mom and I have been washing our fruit and veggies this way forever-She uses regular vinegar. It's kind of a pain to do, I do it right when I bring all the fresh stuff home from the store...I put a big towel on a counter for drying. It just gives me peace of mind~♥

  10. Elise- They really are good! I never thought I would give them a try but the fruit is 0 points on Weight Watchers and the yogurt and apple juice is minimal. Great way to start the day.:) Lori
