The Book Thief.
Beautifully written, heart wrenching, haunting, lovely and raw all at the same time. Shining moments that rise above the darkness of Nazi Germany. The characters will stay with me forever.
I was beyond thrilled to be selected to host The Book Thief House Party! (Note- The movie trailer states the movie is coming in January but that's in the UK. It's coming to the U.S. November 15th!)
House Party sent me little black books, pens, and bookmarks &
2 copies of The Book Thief. (I gave one away as a prize!)
A nifty book bag that I also gave away as a prize. (Mandy claimed the movie poster in the first picture- lucky girl!)
The refreshments were so fun to dream up with quotes from the book!
(Remember how Max felt while traveling on the train?)
Memories of Liesel and Rudy's adventures stealing apples.
Katie made GF and regular pumpkin bread- It was YUM!
My pea soup turned out a bit like Mama's! The peas refused to soften even after hours in the pot. My sweet friends were kind enough to live by these words (below).;)
At least it looked good in the bowls!
Frau Diller and her mixed candy...
Rudy with hair the color of a lemon, Papa with his accordion… Have you read the book? Who was your favorite character?
Hi Lori, The Book Thief Party looks to have been a huge success. I love the quotes from the book you made, you have the best ideas :) The pea soup doesn't look too bad, it looks more of a weak vegetable soup which I love. I have to confess that I hate peas and would have to pick them out, what would Mama have said? I dare not think! Oh I adore Papa he is such a special person. I also have a soft spot for the Mayor's wife and how she shared her library with Liesel. It truly is a special book and thank you so much for sharing your party pictures. I am jealous that you will see the movie soon and I will have to wait 2 more months to see it over here. Lindsay x
ReplyDeleteSo much fun! Love your party ideas with the quotes and the food. I bet the soup looked good in the pretty bowls. Funny, pea soup was the one thing my momma fixed that I didn't HAVE to eat! It was the only time I was allowed to eat PBJ instead of what was served. I'm still thankful for that!
