Let the Sunshine In!

The cold days are numbered!  I looked at the weather and next week we should be in the 70's!  Yippee!  Perfect weather for planting a garden, bird watching, picnics, and opening the windows and letting the fresh air in.  Spring cleaning here I come!
The girls and I are really enjoying watching our little bird friends.  We started this past Winter because of our Science studies but have continued because it's so enjoyable.  Some robins have made a nest on a sheltered portion of our roof and we are thrilled!  We also have some mockingbirds that visit our garden everyday for little "snacks" that we put out.  One rainy day we even had a male and female cardinal visit, too.  Such a treat!  Did you know that birds need to eat bits of egg shells and sand to aid in their digestion?   We also learned that most birds do not like hanging feeders because it is too difficult for them to hold on to the feeder and eat at the same time.  So, we are planning on making a platform bird feeder this weekend.  Ready, Jeff?:-)
