Sprucing up the Schoolroom!

Our school room was a disaster this morning.  (Actually it has been for the past few months)  It was so bad that I would get palpitations just walking in there!  The girls and I just started doing school work in the kitchen to avoid the whole mess.  Well, today my friends- thanks to all of you (as you all make me want to be a better person) I decided to do something about it!  There is still tons to be done (yes, we have lived here 4 years) like re-painting and curtains, but now I can walk into the room without screaming.:-)

I love this mug.  My parents gave it to me for Christmas one year and it perfectly describes me.:-)  Plus, it's from Nordstrom- my favorite!
A friend of mine saw this and told me it reminded her of me.  Alicia, you were so right!  Of course, I had to take it home with me.:-)
Takes my breath away!  I love my baubles and beads!
I "rescued" these desks from a lady before she took them to Goodwill.  Yeah- for me!  Then, Jeff spray painted them for the girls.  Mandy's is blue and Katie's is pink.

I was thinking of turning this room into my Craft Room, that's why all of my beads, ribbon, etc. are here.  We'll see what happens...

Don't you just adore ribbon?  I can't seem to stop buying it...
This is my shabby chic basket from T.J. Mxx.  It is inlaid with white and pink china pieces- love it!  My friend, Kim, made the magic wand for me during the "Enchanted" Swap.  Just a bit of whimsy.:-)
How I adore bunnies...  These little fellows are holding ribbon for me.  And that's it for now!  Once again, thank you for the motivation!:-)

You and I share a love for ribbon. I
can hardly resist buying a roll every time I go to the store.

  2. Our house seems to be suffering from the laws of atrophy. I really am going to put these kids to work next week before they go back to school and whip things into shape like you did! I am so impressed by your self-discipline to home school. Being a grown up means we are aware of our weakness right? Well, I know I am not disciplined enough to do it! good for you!

Girl... You have to have Jeff put shelves in that closet so you can store things in there and shut the door!

Thanks for calming me and comforting me today with your words and your prayers~ You are the best. All is well.

  5. I'm so jealous of that room too! My craft room is the living room. I have most of my supplies in the basement and have to go dig for them when I need them. I keep some in the living room which makes it very cluttered along with all the toys, computer, etc.... I would love to have a room all to myself!! Someday......

I love your bunnies holding the ribbon!

  6. Oh, you are motivating me to get started on our craft/school room!! But first I have to put suitcases from our trip away....I really MUST do that!! I so understand that feeling of palpitations when you walk into a cluttered, disorganized, disaster of a room....I've experienced that myself today at least 4 times!

  9. I think Martha Stewart did this, she put all her ribbon and christmas papers on dowels and then secured them to the wall so that you can see all of them and access the different ones you need easily. It was very tidy.

Love the room. It looks like a wonderful place to learn!

  12. Looks like ribbon addiction is becoming so common it will soon need a medical term! I too love ribbon, so I'm right there with you all! Lori, thanks for pointing me in the direction of Heidi's swap! I can't wait and I agree it would be neat if we were swap partners!

  14. I love those desks. They are so hard to find now a days. I wish I could find a couple for the boys. A craft room? I would love one. I hope our new house will have enough room for one. Lol!
