Yesterday we headed into the woods to see what we could find. The girls are currently studying rocks and the earth, and what better place to explore than the outdoors?:)
I love how the sun filtered through the trees onto Katie's curls...
We saw a gorgeous waterfall and after all the hiking, the breeze felt amazing...
Then we came upon some lily pads. Not quite Monet's garden, but lovely just the same.
Check out this monarch butterfly! Resting during his long migration to Mexico....
And what is this fellow? Anyone, anyone? He looks like a leaf....
No snakes or spider encounters. It was a great adventure and we all had fun.:)
Lovely scenery and lovely girls! Your photos are great...

Oh such beautiful photographs...your heading reminds me of the Teddy Bear's picnic, one of my favourite songs as a child and to sing to mine they were little..."if you go down in the woods today, you're in for a big surprise..." ;)
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your lovely walk in the woods. The pictures of the waterfall and the butterfly are beautiful. Your girls look to be having a great time. Do you see many snakes are spiders where you live?
ReplyDeleteHi Lori,
ReplyDeleteLooks like you guys had another great outdoor day~ Good for your guys! And I was shocked when I saw you took the photo that is on your header! Wow girl, you are getting really good with that camera!
The insect looks like a Leaf Katydid. It would be a interesting homeschool learning deal for the girls to Google that and see if that is for sure what it is.
I can't wait for them to see what I sent them (and you)in the fall package.
I seem to be a little slow here lately at getting going. I'm trying to just give myself a break with everything going on around me. I will be writing you a E mail later on today-I just thought I'd stop by say "Hi" and check in. :)
Beautiful place for a hike! I have seen Mr. Leaf Bug before, although I have no idea of his true name.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! I'm guessing that's a leaf-hopper?
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had a wonderful time. The pictures you shared are lovely. You have a beautiful family.
ReplyDeleteThe bug that looks like a leaf is quite interesting.

How fun..they are so pretty! I love the one by the creek...what a great day!

what a neat day....that waterfall is breath taking!
ReplyDeleteThe monarch butterflies used my basil to host there little caterpillars. Call me a tree hugger but I let all 3 of my gorgeous basil bushes be devoured by those VERY HUNGRY CATEPILLARS so they could live. I'm such a sucker for wild life.
Love the pics! I totally took a hike this past weekend in our woods..and blogged about it..and took pics to, and I DID encounter a spider..ugh, a rather creepy one..as you will see from the pic!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos!! It looks like you all had a great time!
