Swags, Oatmeal and Sex and the City

This is what I ended up working on last night.  I seriously love the remnant section at Hobby Lobby!  The swag is kind of crazy, but I thought it would be fun for Halloween.  I would like to have it hanging from my staircase railing, but that may take the next 10 years to complete.  We'll see what happens...

I have been saving my oatmeal containers for something.  Not sure what.  Any ideas??

We ended up watching the "Sex and the City" movie last night instead of "88 Minutes".  Am I the only one that thought the movie was SO sad?  Loved Charlotte's clothes, though.  I am definitely a "Charlotte" girl.  Which character are you?  Any Samantha's out there?:)

  1. love the swag. I'm still finishing decorations myself.
I use the oatmeal canisters as mailing tubes but a teacher of Curly Girls does this: She duct tapes them together into a pyramid shape then spray paints them and uses them for her kids files in the classroom. :-)

  2. Oh I LOVE Sex and the City so much!!! Yes, it was so sad when Big didn't show up at the wedding and the resulting sadness that Carrie had to pull through... BUT I loved the way it ended and, being a HUGE fan of SATC for years, I thought it was just perfect!!! :)

  4. The swag is adorable! I am definitely a Charlotte..or at least I think I am. I haven't seen the movie yet. Check out www.nieniedialogues.blogspot.com and see what she did with her old formula containers....that would be cute way to use the oatmeal canisters!

  7. I cracked up at your title to this post-I about spit my coffee out while reading it! Only you Lori! Too cute!
BTW: I love the swag you sent me in my fall package! It brings me joy everytime I look at it.
Did Jeff watch and like SATC? :)
I ended up watching 88 minutes with Tim~ The acting wasn't the best, there were some gory parts, but for some reason I wasn't reading the magazine I had in front of me...The movie did keep my attention.
Hope you are having a great day!

  8. I am so not creative, but I would consider decorating them to use to wrap gifts.

I really thought that I am a Charlotte -- so, I Googled for one of those online tests that test to see what character you are most like - the test confirmed that I am a Charlotte.

Can't forget to tell you -- love the swag and your creativity.

  9. Not a big SATC fan, certainly could not see many people admitting they were Samantha's either. Just me...
Your garland is looking cute, though!!

  10. We don't have Hobby Lobby's in MA - at least, I'm pretty sure we don't. Looks like they have some great stuff though.

Well - with Thanksgiving coming - you could have a lesson about the Wampanoag's (the native americans that shared their food at the 1st Thanksgiving) and turn them into drums.

  12. Oh, I love the swag, the fabric wonderful, I love the different seasons and the colors. It would take a long time to make one long enough for the staircase. I also love my blocks, they're adorable. As for the oatmeal you probably have the most regular family in the world. LOL

  13. Ladies- Such wonderful ideas for the oatmeal containers! Thank you so much. I knew that I was keeping them for a good reason.:) I do like homemade oatmeal in the morning, but quite a bit of the oatmeal has ended up in oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. Yum.:)

  14. The swag is very cute. It looks like it would be relaxing to make. If you knit, you could turn the oatmeal containers into yarn holders, just poke a little hole in the top for the yarn to come out of. You could even put a picture of the project or the stitch count on the side of the box and write where you stopped.
