About Me

My photo
Mysteries, polka dots, California Rolls, TJ Maxx, cozy blankets, rainy days and getting the first spoonful of peanut butter out of the jar make me smile. Spiders, rude people, cold fingers and toes, baby leashes, people that don't wrap their packages before going to the Post Office, poison ivy and Math (pretty much all of it) make me want to scream. My perfect day would be spent with my wonderful husband and sweet girls- watching movies in our jammies! Of course, having the movie theater to ourselves would be great, too. Please pass the popcorn and M&M's.:) I am saved by the grace of God. He is my constant companion and hears my every prayer. What a blessing! I'd love to hear from you! Deck the Halls Part 2 & Tutorial

Tonight the girls and I set up garland and stockings on the stairs.  I love the look of the winter white and twinkle lights.  So dreamy...  These stockings are just for decoration as our "Santa" stockings are over the fireplace so Santa can find them easily.:)

The stocking in the middle was made for me by my dear friend, Heidi.  It fits in perfectly with my collection.  You must stop by Heidi's shop as she makes the most beautiful treasures!

This is what I made tonight!   A whimsical garland that was inspired by something I saw in Country Living magazine this month...

You start with papier mache ornaments (called unfinished ornaments at Hobby Lobby) and add fun scrapbook paper to the front after you paint the sides and back with a coordinating color.  Isn't it fun how you can decorate with any color at Christmas now?  I remember when I thought it had to be red, green and/or white.  By the way, the papier mache ornaments are 40% off at Hobby Lobby this week- yahoo!
Then you add scrapbook chipboard letters (or stickers) to say something festive (mine says "Be Jolly").  Once everything is dry you hang your finished letters on a garland of tinsel OR a fabulous feather boa!

This is how it was pictured in Country Living and I love this look, too.  Polka dots are so fun!  They used fabric to wrap around their ornaments, but I think scrapbook paper is easier.  If you make any, please let me know- I would love to see!:)

Mandy learned a new hairstyle tonight.  The upside down ponytail!  She did it all by herself and was so proud.

Katie's projects was making the Twelve Days of Christmas ornaments.  (Don't you love those 90% sales after the holidays?)  We were singing the verses all night and I loved every minute.:)  Pictured below is Katie with her 7 Swans a Swimming and 9 Ladies Dancing.:)

   Here she is creating...

We like to put paint in our old egg cartons.  It's a great way to keep it separate and recycle at the same time.
Hope you all had a wonderful evening, too!:)

I love your stockings on your stair railing and aren't you just Crafty Cathy with your darling whimsical garland-I'm going to try that! I will show you when/if I get them done! Something like that would look cute in the girls room with their names on it in their favorite colors! (AND a shabby Chic one for Noel~♥)

So pretty...all of it :-) Love that garland...I was thinking of doing something similar and will definitely share if I get to it!

OMG, I just realized you weren't on my blog roll...I mean...Hello, you are like the best and most creative of course! Blogging has taken a back seat this week as I've been trying to get the house under contol ;-) and now I'm trying to dwindle down my blog roll because it go way to long. But you'll be one that gets to stay and hang out, hehe!

Anyway, thanks for sharing! Now, if I can just decide what bracelet I want from your shop!?!

I don't know WHERE to begin. I love everything. I think that garland is tooo cute. I love the whimsey of it. The stockings are perfect too!
We didn't do anything crafty last night. Curly Girl has been busy making clay ornaments for me to bake for her...she has been at it for a couple weeks now. I finished up some aprons and slippers this week so took a break last night....but am getting crafty today....crocheting!

What does Jeff think of the bright green boa?

I truly don't know how you do it all.

I am having a hard time keeping up with our blog.
