About Me

My photo
Mysteries, polka dots, California Rolls, TJ Maxx, cozy blankets, rainy days and getting the first spoonful of peanut butter out of the jar make me smile. Spiders, rude people, cold fingers and toes, baby leashes, people that don't wrap their packages before going to the Post Office, poison ivy and Math (pretty much all of it) make me want to scream. My perfect day would be spent with my wonderful husband and sweet girls- watching movies in our jammies! Of course, having the movie theater to ourselves would be great, too. Please pass the popcorn and M&M's.:) I am saved by the grace of God. He is my constant companion and hears my every prayer. What a blessing! I'd love to hear from you! 10 Ultimate Truths Girls Should Know- A Must Read for Moms and Teen Daughters!

10 Ultimate Truths Girls Should Know is an easy to read book filled with real life stories, advice, and loving reassurance to help guide your tween/teen daughter's choices as well as guard her heart. I read it with my daughters (ages 12 and 17) and my only regret was that I couldn't have read it when I was their age. (Big sigh) It could have saved me from a lot of heartache and misguided choices.

The 10 Ultimate Truths are spot on and the author, Kari Kampakis, beautifully details them with a focus on the Lord and realistic, engaging stories that every girl can relate to.

Truth #10- KINDNESS is more important than POPULARITY. (Dreaded cliques. Remember the movie Mean Girls?)
Truth #9- You were born to fly. (Be yourself. Smile.)
Truth #8- Todays's choices set the stage for your reputation. "Do not be deceived: 'Bad company ruins good morals.'" 1 Corinthians 15:33
Truth #7- Chasing boys doesn't make you cool. It makes you a nuisance. (Enough said)
Truth #6- You weren't made to worship yourself. (Joy: Jesus, Others, Yourself)
Truth #5- People peak at different times in life. Trust God's plan for you. "And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation." Romans 5:4
Truth #4- Get comfortable being uncomfortable. Otherwise you'll never stick to your guns. (Peer pressure!)
Truth #3- Boys are visual creatures. The clothing choices you make affect the way they see you. (Body image and modesty.)
Truth #2- Pretty girls are a dime a dozen. Outer beauty attracts attention, but inner beauty is what holds it. (The beauty of loving the blessings God has given you.)
Truth #1- the source of all peace and happiness lives inside you. Learn to listen to the whispers of God over the megaphone of public opinion. (Reminds me so much of the movie "A Walk to Remember". What God wants from us is obedience.)

I really enjoyed this book because it was real, encouraging, and written by a lady that remembers how it feels to be young. It's not easy! So many temptations and the world's view is very different than God's view. Please read this book with your tween/teen daughter. It will be a blessing to you both and a rich time of reflection, dreams and discussion.

These ten simple truths can build one big change in your daughter's life.
When Kari Kampakis wrote a blog post in July 2013 titled "10 Truths Young Girls Should Know," the post went viral and was shared more than 65,000 times on Facebook. Obviously her message strikes a chord with moms and dads across the country. This nonfiction book for teen girls expands on these ten truths and can reach the hearts of both moms and daughters.
Teen girls deal daily with cliques, bullying, rejection, and social media nightmares. Kari Kampakis wants girls to know that they don't have to compromise their integrity and future to find love, acceptance, and security. Her ten truths include:
  • Kindness is more important than popularity.
  • People peak at different times of life. Trust God's plan for you.
  • Get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Otherwise, you'll never stick to your guns.
  • Today's choices set the stage for your reputation.
  • You were born to fly.
Fans of Kari's blog and newspaper column will not want to miss her first book. Filled with practical advice, loving support, and insightful discussion questions, 10 Ultimate Truths Girls Should Know is a timely and approachable list of guidelines that will help young girls navigate a broken world and become the young women God made them to be.
