About Me

My photo
Mysteries, polka dots, California Rolls, TJ Maxx, cozy blankets, rainy days and getting the first spoonful of peanut butter out of the jar make me smile. Spiders, rude people, cold fingers and toes, baby leashes, people that don't wrap their packages before going to the Post Office, poison ivy and Math (pretty much all of it) make me want to scream. My perfect day would be spent with my wonderful husband and sweet girls- watching movies in our jammies! Of course, having the movie theater to ourselves would be great, too. Please pass the popcorn and M&M's.:) I am saved by the grace of God. He is my constant companion and hears my every prayer. What a blessing! I'd love to hear from you! Dancing with Fireflies by Denise Hunter- A Chapel Springs Romance

My Thoughts:

I fell in love with Chapel Springs and the McKinley family last year when I read Barefoot Summer.  Madison and Beckett certainly made sparks fly with their tempestuous and complicated relationship!  I loved every page of their story.  But I couldn't help but wonder what had happened to Madison's sister, Jade.  She'd run away from home and no one knew when she would return....  Until now.  Dancing with Fireflies (love the title, don't you?) opens the door to Jade's story and it's not what anyone expected.  She's finally returned home on a mission (to find a husband!) but she's got a secret she's not quite ready to share.  Jade asks her friend, Daniel Dawson, to assist her in her quest.  She even has a long list of qualities she's looking for in a man!  By the way, Jade and Daniel have been friends for a long time and she sees him just like a brother.  Jade, Jade, Jade- what were you thinking, sweetie?  Daniel is long suffering, handsome, romantic (secret admirer notes, anyone?), incredibly kind, as well as the mayor of Chapel Springs.  He. will. make. you. swoon.  I promise.

Dancing with Fireflies is truly wonderful.  It has drama (the first chapter caught me off guard!), secrets, tragedy, romance, the dearest family, a handsome hero (my absolute favorite!), an independent leading lady (who truly needs rescuing), lots of humor (the Lamaze class was classic!) and heartwarming flashbacks that have you rooting for Jade and Daniel all the way through the book.  Jade is quirky in a delightfully disarming way.  Whether it's secretly living in her mom's shop, getting accidentally locked in a closet all night with Daniel, or texting innocently (?) flirtatious messages to him- she is always memorable.:) The McKinley family is no stranger to tragedy but their faith in God is the glue that holds them all together.  I'm really anxious to see who Denise Hunter writes about next!  The Chapel Springs series is delightfully romantic with clever humor, just the right amount of drama and lots of heart.

Swoonlicious, dear friends?
Oh, my goodness- yes!

A Chapel Springs Romance
Jade returns home to Chapel Springs after years of protecting her fragile heart. Then along comes Daniel, making her long to dance again.
Creative and complicated, Jade McKinley felt like a weed in a rose garden growing up in Chapel Springs. When she left, she thought she’d never look back. But now, pregnant, alone, and broke, she has no other choice but to return.
The mayor of Chapel Springs, Daniel Dawson, has been an honorary member of the McKinley family for years. While his own home life was almost non-existent, Daniel fit right into the boisterous McKinley family. He’s loved Jade for years, but she always saw him as a big brother. Now that she’s back, his feelings are stronger than ever.
As Jade attempts to settle in, nothing feels right. God seems far away, she’s hiding secrets from her family, and she’s strangely attracted to the man who’s always called her “squirt.” Finding her way home may prove more difficult than she imagined.

Looks like a great book and will have to start out with the first one. Nothing like a good book on a rainy day, and today qualifies here in Texas. Will be looking forward to your photos of your trip. I also have a trip coming up very soon to the Pacific northwest. Can't wait. Bet you got some great shots
