About Me
- mysteryhistorymom
- Mysteries, polka dots, California Rolls, TJ Maxx, cozy blankets, rainy days and getting the first spoonful of peanut butter out of the jar make me smile. Spiders, rude people, cold fingers and toes, baby leashes, people that don't wrap their packages before going to the Post Office, poison ivy and Math (pretty much all of it) make me want to scream. My perfect day would be spent with my wonderful husband and sweet girls- watching movies in our jammies! Of course, having the movie theater to ourselves would be great, too. Please pass the popcorn and M&M's.:) I am saved by the grace of God. He is my constant companion and hears my every prayer. What a blessing! I'd love to hear from you! Lori at toosillysisters@cox.net

Russia and the Ivans
We are currently studying Russian history. My girls are shown modeling their beautiful kokoshnics. The kokoshnic was the Russian women's head adornment for centuries. You can find gorgeous examples online, made with velvets and silks and decorated with beads. They are quite lovely. We will be making Russian Beeswax candles this week. We have also read about Ivan the Great and his grandson, Ivan the Terrible. Fascinating, but frightening. I was lucky enough to have found an old book of mine that is full of Russian fairytales, too. "Vassilissa, the Beautiful" always intrigued me even though it was quite scary. Of course, "Baba Yaga" is a classic. We are having a great time reading these together- I just hope no one has nightmares!
