About Me

My photo
Mysteries, polka dots, California Rolls, TJ Maxx, cozy blankets, rainy days and getting the first spoonful of peanut butter out of the jar make me smile. Spiders, rude people, cold fingers and toes, baby leashes, people that don't wrap their packages before going to the Post Office, poison ivy and Math (pretty much all of it) make me want to scream. My perfect day would be spent with my wonderful husband and sweet girls- watching movies in our jammies! Of course, having the movie theater to ourselves would be great, too. Please pass the popcorn and M&M's.:) I am saved by the grace of God. He is my constant companion and hears my every prayer. What a blessing! I'd love to hear from you! yellow wellies orange starfish and green anemone

Today is the day we've all been waiting for.
Well, at least I have.:)

We're going to put on our wellies and walk on the beach!

The Wickaninnish Inn has a wildly gorgeous beach just steps away...

Rocks to climb and intense waves when the tide comes in.  They are powerful!

But when the tide heads out there are tidal pools to explore and natural treasures to be discovered...

At first all we saw were clams and seaweed.  But then, we looked closer...

and discovered jewel toned *starfish* and vividly green anemones!

We couldn't resist gently touching them.  The starfish were rough and didn't move but the anemone were quite different.  They withdrew as if we were something delicious to sample!

Beyond cool.

Even the grown-ups were captivated!

My mom discovered this nest of starfish friends.  I still can't get over their stunning colors.

Here's our brave band of explorers.  It was lots of fun rocking the boots.;)

It's not every day that you get to take a selfie with starfish!

Waiting until the tide comes back in to cover them up...

It seemed that every hour was the perfect time for pictures.

And we wanted to capture every second.

Breathtaking.

Exciting...

and yet peaceful at the same time.

Night night, everyone.

Hi Lori, I really enjoyed this post, it was so interesting to see what you discovered on the beach. I was amazed by the starfish and their pretty colors, they are bigger than I imagined too. The anemones are also pretty, I don't think I have ever seen one in real life. You have some wonderful family pictures there to treasure, I loved seeing you all spending fun times together at the beach. Lindsay x

oh Lori ! Was very exciited to see this post! Honestly, this inn just seems so idyllic that I just know I am eventualy going to have to go visit it. I have liked their facebook page, and so am getting some information on it periodically to keep that unusual name in my mind. Your post is so cute and I love that they actually have wellies for you to use on the beach! How cool is that! The starfish and the anemones are amazing. ARen't they just so beautiful. What treasures and there was, I am sure, no end to exploring this gorgeous beach. I was once up a Galliano island for a journaling / kayaking class, and the beaches there were very pristine and beautiful. Bet it is very similar in nature. I am going to be away on a trip for the next two weeks, so will have to remember to come by and check you out for new posts as soon as I get back. We will be up in Seattle area, and although I had hoped to get up to canada, the timing probably won't be right. Another trip. Did love your post! What family fun you had! Hugs from Texas! Jeanne
