About Me
- mysteryhistorymom
- Mysteries, polka dots, California Rolls, TJ Maxx, cozy blankets, rainy days and getting the first spoonful of peanut butter out of the jar make me smile. Spiders, rude people, cold fingers and toes, baby leashes, people that don't wrap their packages before going to the Post Office, poison ivy and Math (pretty much all of it) make me want to scream. My perfect day would be spent with my wonderful husband and sweet girls- watching movies in our jammies! Of course, having the movie theater to ourselves would be great, too. Please pass the popcorn and M&M's.:) I am saved by the grace of God. He is my constant companion and hears my every prayer. What a blessing! I'd love to hear from you! Lori at toosillysisters@cox.net

Keyboard Town PALS- TOS review
I was given the opportunity to review Keyboard Town PALS, a unique and very user friendly typing program. Through the use of puppets who make up a little town of happy characters (think Sesame Street) you are introduced to the keyboard in a non-threatening way.
Each key is presented, one at a time, with a corresponding puppet. For example "A" is for Amy. There are no timed tests, either. I remember how much anxiety those caused me in high school! Take a peek at the video below to see more:
I tried the program with both of my daughters. My 8 year old thought that the characters were charming and endearing- and so did I! There is no correction for mistakes like most programs. Rather, the student is encouraged to keep trying as they will learn through their mistakes. There is no fear of failure and my 8 year old really liked that. She also loved that that there were no timed tests. My 13 year old thought the program was babyish and silly, but it is truly better suited for younger children. I also think that Keyboard Town PALS would be wonderful for those with learning difficulties. Instead of fearing constant correction, all can continue and succeed! The puppets are fun and engaging and typing becomes a delight instead of a chore.
Keyboard Town PALS sells for $39.95 and can be purchased here. They offer a web-based version and a CD-rom version in English, Spanish and French.
