About Me

My photo
Mysteries, polka dots, California Rolls, TJ Maxx, cozy blankets, rainy days and getting the first spoonful of peanut butter out of the jar make me smile. Spiders, rude people, cold fingers and toes, baby leashes, people that don't wrap their packages before going to the Post Office, poison ivy and Math (pretty much all of it) make me want to scream. My perfect day would be spent with my wonderful husband and sweet girls- watching movies in our jammies! Of course, having the movie theater to ourselves would be great, too. Please pass the popcorn and M&M's.:) I am saved by the grace of God. He is my constant companion and hears my every prayer. What a blessing! I'd love to hear from you! Come Along for a Walk in the Woods...

Yesterday we headed into the woods to see what we could find.  The girls are currently studying rocks and the earth, and what better place to explore than the outdoors?:)

I love how the sun filtered through the trees onto Katie's curls...

We saw a gorgeous waterfall and after all the hiking, the breeze felt amazing...

Then we came upon some lily pads.  Not quite Monet's garden, but lovely just the same.

Check out this monarch butterfly!  Resting during his long migration to Mexico....

And what is this fellow?  Anyone, anyone?  He looks like a leaf....

Ah ha!  There are the rocks!  Yes, we took some home so we could identify them.  Guess who got to carry them?  To be fair, Mandy carried a bunch, too.  She brought along her compass, some water, her Nintendo and her pocket knife.  Talk about being prepared!:)

No snakes or spider encounters.  It was a great adventure and we all had fun.:)

Oh such beautiful photographs...your heading reminds me of the Teddy Bear's picnic, one of my favourite songs as a child and to sing to mine they were little..."if you go down in the woods today, you're in for a big surprise..." ;)

Hi Lori,
Looks like you guys had another great outdoor day~ Good for your guys! And I was shocked when I saw you took the photo that is on your header! Wow girl, you are getting really good with that camera!
The insect looks like a Leaf Katydid. It would be a interesting homeschool learning deal for the girls to Google that and see if that is for sure what it is.
I can't wait for them to see what I sent them (and you)in the fall package.
I seem to be a little slow here lately at getting going. I'm trying to just give myself a break with everything going on around me. I will be writing you a E mail later on today-I just thought I'd stop by say "Hi" and check in. :)

Beautiful place for a hike! I have seen Mr. Leaf Bug before, although I have no idea of his true name.

Beautiful pictures! I'm guessing that's a leaf-hopper?

what a neat day....that waterfall is breath taking!
The monarch butterflies used my basil to host there little caterpillars. Call me a tree hugger but I let all 3 of my gorgeous basil bushes be devoured by those VERY HUNGRY CATEPILLARS so they could live. I'm such a sucker for wild life.
