About Me

My photo
Mysteries, polka dots, California Rolls, TJ Maxx, cozy blankets, rainy days and getting the first spoonful of peanut butter out of the jar make me smile. Spiders, rude people, cold fingers and toes, baby leashes, people that don't wrap their packages before going to the Post Office, poison ivy and Math (pretty much all of it) make me want to scream. My perfect day would be spent with my wonderful husband and sweet girls- watching movies in our jammies! Of course, having the movie theater to ourselves would be great, too. Please pass the popcorn and M&M's.:) I am saved by the grace of God. He is my constant companion and hears my every prayer. What a blessing! I'd love to hear from you! The Lily Series The Beauty Book review and giveaway!

The winner is Tristan!  Congratulations!!

My 9 year old daughter discovered The Lily Series by Nancy Rue while visiting Focus on the Family last year.  The Lily Series of books are refreshingly charming and I was thrilled to be asked to review The Beauty Book by Tommy Nelson!

The book is written for ages 7-13 year old girls and covers everything from how to give yourself a manicure/pedicure, caring for your skin, make-up application (with parent approval), how to improve your body image, hair care (what works best for the unique you) and more.  The focus of the book is discovering the "true beauty" inside you.  Outward beauty is important as your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit but inner beauty is eternal and God given and much more crucial.

The book features questions and answers, sweet pictures, activities and prayer suggestions.  Each chapter gently and beautifully encourages young girls to focus on the positive and to be aware of the beauty that they have been blessed with by the Lord.

How do you deal with acne?
What if your feet smell?
How to take care of hair that's turned green from chlorine?
Dandruff?
Shaving??

It's all in The Beauty Book.  A wealth of information for young ladies.  No embarrassment- just encouragement.  Bible verses, quizzes (my daughter's favorite part!), personal experiences and more.  It was a pleasure reviewing this book with both of my girls, ages 9 and 14.

Tommy Nelson has generously offered a copy of The Beauty Book for one of my readers!  Here's what you need to do to enter:

#1- Leave a comment on this post for 1 entry.
#2- Leave a separate comment that you are follower of my blog for 1 entry.
#3- Who do you plan on giving this book to?  Let me know in a separate comment for 1 entry.

Giveaway ends next Thursday, the 14th.  Good luck!

*I was given a copy of The Beauty Book by Tommy Nelson in exchange for my honest opinion.  No other compensation was received.*

Sounds like a wonderful book. My hair used to turn so green in the summer--sometimes it's not just from chlorine, but from the algaecide preventative they used to use.
