About Me

My photo
Mysteries, polka dots, California Rolls, TJ Maxx, cozy blankets, rainy days and getting the first spoonful of peanut butter out of the jar make me smile. Spiders, rude people, cold fingers and toes, baby leashes, people that don't wrap their packages before going to the Post Office, poison ivy and Math (pretty much all of it) make me want to scream. My perfect day would be spent with my wonderful husband and sweet girls- watching movies in our jammies! Of course, having the movie theater to ourselves would be great, too. Please pass the popcorn and M&M's.:) I am saved by the grace of God. He is my constant companion and hears my every prayer. What a blessing! I'd love to hear from you! Gooseberry Patch

I love the Gooseberry Patch series and Get Togethers with Gooseberry Patch has beautiful photography and wonderful recipes.  The Table of Contents features recipes for "A Garden Lunch", "Autumn Harvest", "Weekend in the Country", "Holiday Open House", "Cookie Exchange", and many others.  I seriously want to try each and every recipe!

Here are a few for you to try...

Caramel French Toast
Prepare this the night before...when you get up in the morning, just pop it in the oven!

1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup butter
2 T. corn syrup
12 slices bread
6 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 c. milk
1 t. vanilla
1/4 t. salt

Combine sugar, butter and syrup in a small saucepan.  Cook over medium heat until thickened, stirring constantly.  Pour into a 13 x 9 inch baking dish.  Arrange 6 slices bread in dish; top with remaining slices.  Blend remaining ingredients; pour evenly over bread.  Cover and chill for 8 hours.  Uncover and bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes, or until golden brown.  Serve immediately.  Makes 6 servings.

Candy Corn Popcorn Balls
This one is for you, Heather!:-)

8 cups popped popcorn
1 cup candy corn
1/4 cup butter
1/4 t. salt
10 oz. package marshmallows

Combine popcorn and candy corn in a large bowl; set aside.  Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat; stir in salt and marshmallows. Reduce heat to low and cook, stirring frequently, or 7 minutes or until marshmallows melt and mixture is smooth.  Pour over popcorn mixture, stirring to coat.  Lightly coat hands with vegetable spray and shape popsorn mixture into 4 inch balls.  Makes about 10.

Oh, thanks for the recipe for the popcorn balls. I was just thinking this morning that we were going to make those next weekend. Now I don't have to hunt for a recipe.
