About Me

My photo
Mysteries, polka dots, California Rolls, TJ Maxx, cozy blankets, rainy days and getting the first spoonful of peanut butter out of the jar make me smile. Spiders, rude people, cold fingers and toes, baby leashes, people that don't wrap their packages before going to the Post Office, poison ivy and Math (pretty much all of it) make me want to scream. My perfect day would be spent with my wonderful husband and sweet girls- watching movies in our jammies! Of course, having the movie theater to ourselves would be great, too. Please pass the popcorn and M&M's.:) I am saved by the grace of God. He is my constant companion and hears my every prayer. What a blessing! I'd love to hear from you! The Calling by Suzanne Woods Fisher- The Inn at Eagle Hill series

My Thoughts:

I fell in love with the charming Amish community of Stoneyridge years ago.  Suzanne Woods Fisher's endearing characters, delightful humor and inspirational story line (with a touch of romance!)   blend beautifully together in a series that has become one of my personal favorites.  Her words deliver a warm hug.:)

Beginning with the Lapp sisters, Julia, Sadie and M.K., in the Stoneyridge Seasons series, The Calling now continues with the Schrock family in the second book in the Inn at Eagle Mill series.  The story gently opens with Bethany Schrock helping out five elderly sisters, Jimmy Fisher working with his "one in a million" horse, Rose Schrock welcoming a new guest to her home and Mim Schrock continuing her secret role of answering letters written to Mrs. Miracle.  Little did I know all the excitement that was in store!  While reacquainting myself with the characters, an event occurred that I didn't see coming and the whole story took on a new tone.  Secrets are uncovered, questions demand to be answered and a wanted man becomes desperate...

I don't know how Suzanne Woods Fisher does it.  Every time I read one of her books, it's my favorite- until the next one comes out.:)  The Calling is heartwarming, romantic, laugh out loud funny and all the characters are memorable.  Let me tell you about some of my favorites...

1) Ella, Lena, Ada, Fannie and Sylvia- These precious elderly sisters have hearts of gold.  Whether it's cooking for the needy or keeping a young girl's secret they do it with grace and kindness.  They do what they feel is right, even if they have to break a few rules.
2) Jimmy Fisher-  Handsome and a bit full of himself, Jimmy lives life with a smile on his face and a spring in his step.  He makes women of all ages swoon!
3) Mim Schrock- AKA Mrs. Miracle.  At only 14, Mim is wise beyond her years.  Clever and driven, it's never a dull moment when she's around!
4) Hank Lapp- Unreliable and LOUD, Hank is unforgettable. With all his faults, he has good intentions and always makes me giggle.  Wonderful comic relief and even, dare I say, lovable?  Hey, if he can melt Edith Fisher's heart...

The Calling would make a wonderful Valentine's Day gift- for you!:)  I promise you'll love visiting The Inn at Eagle Hill.  The third book in the series is coming in July and I cannot wait to go back.

About the book:

Book Two in the Inn at Eagle Hill series.  Bestselling author Suzanne Woods Fisher delivers her trademark twists, turns, and tender romance in this delightful and exciting visit to the deceptively quiet community of Stoney Ridge.

Twenty-year-old Bethany Schrock is restless. Her love life has derailed, her faith hangs by a thread, and she is spending the incredibly hot summer days wading through a lifetime's accumulation of junk at the home of five ancient Amish sisters. About the only thing that holds her interest is the spirited and dangerously handsome Jimmy Fisher---and he seems bent on irritating her to no end.

When the sly old sisters and a guest at the Inn get Bethany involved in running the local soup kitchen and starting a community garden, she suddenly finds herself wondering, Shootfire! How did that happen? Despite her newfound purposefulness, a gnawing emptiness about a childhood mystery continues to plague her. Encouraged by Jimmy Fisher, she will seek out the answers she craves---and uncover a shocking secret that will break her heart, heal it, and point her to love.
