About Me

My photo
Mysteries, polka dots, California Rolls, TJ Maxx, cozy blankets, rainy days and getting the first spoonful of peanut butter out of the jar make me smile. Spiders, rude people, cold fingers and toes, baby leashes, people that don't wrap their packages before going to the Post Office, poison ivy and Math (pretty much all of it) make me want to scream. My perfect day would be spent with my wonderful husband and sweet girls- watching movies in our jammies! Of course, having the movie theater to ourselves would be great, too. Please pass the popcorn and M&M's.:) I am saved by the grace of God. He is my constant companion and hears my every prayer. What a blessing! I'd love to hear from you! The Eggs Hatched!

Remember our little nest of eggs? Well, they hatched! Killdeer birds are special in that once their wings dry (after hatching) they are able to run! All four survived (we were so happy!) despite the terrible storms we had. Here is one of the little cuties in action...

This picture shows the Mom and one of her babies...

I truly thought the eggs would hatch and we would never see the babies. It was so special being able to witness this miracle...

Hi Lori
I am delighted to hear that they all hatched. I had been meaning to ask you if they had. They are the cutesst little birds. The one in the first picture looks like it's waving!

Lori, that is just so cool that you got to see the little Killdeer babies! I love to watch them at the beach running around the sand. I actually thought they were sandpipers at first but no they were killdeers. Enjoy them!

GOD'S little miracles! It's amazing how nature works! We have blue birds nesting on our front porch in an old birdhouse I have had for yeras. The babies are born now, this is very rare in Michigan to have them so close to your house! We are blessed!! and so are you! Fran.

Lori,

They are adorable!! Makes me want my own nest :) Sometimes I'm tempted to let my chickens (3 girls and 1 oops she's a boy ;) hatch one of their eggs, so I can have a chick again!!

How cute! Were you able to get very close? I know momma Killdeer birds can be very protective and loud when you get close to their nest. . .
