About Me

My photo
Mysteries, polka dots, California Rolls, TJ Maxx, cozy blankets, rainy days and getting the first spoonful of peanut butter out of the jar make me smile. Spiders, rude people, cold fingers and toes, baby leashes, people that don't wrap their packages before going to the Post Office, poison ivy and Math (pretty much all of it) make me want to scream. My perfect day would be spent with my wonderful husband and sweet girls- watching movies in our jammies! Of course, having the movie theater to ourselves would be great, too. Please pass the popcorn and M&M's.:) I am saved by the grace of God. He is my constant companion and hears my every prayer. What a blessing! I'd love to hear from you! Sisterchicks On the Loose by Robin Jones Gunn

My Thoughts:

The Sisterchicks series, by Robin Jones Gunn, has everything I love in a book.  Laughter, adventure, and friendship along with characters I can truly identify with.  You know, moms that are imperfectly refreshing!  They love their families but long for a bit of adventure.  They also love the Lord and He shines through their words and actions- even when things don't go exactly as planned.  Every story reads like a warm hug, complete with lots of giggles and a few tears.  Friends, Robin Jones Gunn knows what she's doing.  I've read three of the Sisterchicks books- Sisterchicks in Gondolas, Sisterchicks do the Hula and now Sisterchicks on the Loose.  They just keep getting better and better…

Sisterchicks On the Loose follows Sharon and her best friend, Penny Lane, as they travel to Finland and England.  Sharon is quite reserved and afraid to go while Penny is an absolute free spirit- "crazy like a daisy"!  My heart ached for Sharon as I'm SO much like her!  Penny is searching for the aunt whom she's never met and Sharon agrees to come along.  (Sisterchicks do courageous things like this for each other.)  And so the adventure begins!  Along the way,  luggage is lost (in China!), there's a crazy escapade involving a sauna and a night under the stars, and later the ladies meet Miss Molly, the attacking chicken!  Through it all, the friends share heart to heart confessions, encounter the nicest people, and allow God to guide them.  From the beginning, I knew I wanted to be a sisterchick.  I bet you will, too.

About This Book

Sharon has lived calmly in Chinook Springs, Washington, her entire life. All that changes when her best friend of twenty years, Penny, takes an impulsive trip to seek out her only living relatives in Finland -- and brings Sharon with her. The land of reindeer and saunas holds infinite varieties of zaniness for these two unlikely friends -- Sharon is a quiet mother of four and Penny was a motorcycle mama before she came to Christ -- who return home with a new view of God, a new zest for life, and a big impact on those around them for decades to come.

Get set for adventure as the sisterchicks drive, float, or fly off to faraway places—exploring new territory and delighting in the soul ties that forever bind their hearts.

Sisterchick n.: a friend who shares the deepest wonders of your heart, loves you like a sister, and provides a reality check when you’re being a brat.

Meet unlikely best friends Sharon, quiet mother of four, and Penny, former flower child/motorcycle mama. Connected as young moms, their twenty-year friendship is about to take a surprising leap! Penny hatches plans for a “post-kids” trip to seek out her only living relatives—somewhere in far-off Finland.

Oh, Penny Girl, what have you done?

The land of reindeer, Finnish saunas, and starry, starry nights holds infinite promise for the free-flying sisterchicks, who feel their hearts fill with a new zest for living…and a fresh view of the One who flung the galaxies across the heavens!
