About Me

My photo
Mysteries, polka dots, California Rolls, TJ Maxx, cozy blankets, rainy days and getting the first spoonful of peanut butter out of the jar make me smile. Spiders, rude people, cold fingers and toes, baby leashes, people that don't wrap their packages before going to the Post Office, poison ivy and Math (pretty much all of it) make me want to scream. My perfect day would be spent with my wonderful husband and sweet girls- watching movies in our jammies! Of course, having the movie theater to ourselves would be great, too. Please pass the popcorn and M&M's.:) I am saved by the grace of God. He is my constant companion and hears my every prayer. What a blessing! I'd love to hear from you! First Peek at the Jamberry Black Friday Extravaganza!

I've missed you all so much!  Sorry for my absence the last few months but I'm currently pursuing an adventure as a Jamberry nail consultant.  Pretty nails that last?  Yes, please!  I don't intend to make this a business blog but I couldn't resist telling you about Jamberry's Black Friday extravaganza!

I'm aaaalllll about shopping in my jammies, sleeping in and avoiding the craziness.
I also try to avoid going to the post office this time of year.  (Jamberry nail wraps can be mailed in an envelope.  Easy as pie.)

Jamberry wraps are non-toxic and last for 2 weeks on fingers & up to 6 weeks on toes.  Even if I'm having a bad hair day, don't have time to do my face or my jeans are a bit snug I know that my nails look fabulous!  It's a comfort to know that something is going right in my day. ;)

Did I mention the wraps are Buy 3 get 1 FREE?  Translation: 3 gifts and a goodie for YOU!

There are junior sizes for little ones as well as regular sizes for moms, teachers, babysitters, sisters, etc.  (My 11 year old does her own manicures & pedicures. See below.)

There are even festive matching/coordinating Mommy & Me wraps. (I adore the "Frozen" inspired wraps below.)

With 300+ designs there's something for everyone!

You can even host a party and get them for FREE.  Free is fun!  I do all the work, you just invite friends to a Facebook party OR pass the catalog and samples around at work/school/family.

Just a few of the reasons I love Jamberry...

Message me (toosillysisters@cox.net) if you'd like to try a sample or see a catalog.  The holidays are the perfect time to feel special!  Sparkle and shine, ladies!

Diamond Dust Sparkle & Rose Gold Sparkle are my favorites...

If you don't want to host a party, I can add you to mine!

I'm crushing on the Jamberry French Manicure that lasts and lasts.  A dream come true!

Sports fans?  Just what you need to wear to the game!

GO TEAM!!

I can't reveal everything about Jamberry's Black Friday just yet.  BUT, I can tell you that there will be giveaways, games and exclusive offers!  You can sleep late, shop in your jammies, and treat yourself at the same time.  The mall has nothing but long lines, crabby people and a guaranteed headache.  I'm much more fun. :)

Take a peek at the catalog, sign up to host a party or do a little shopping HERE anytime you like!

Growing Up Social: Raising Relational Kids in a Screen-Driven World Review and GIVEAWAY!!

My Thoughts:

Growing Up Social (Raising Relational Kids in a Screen-driven World) is a must read for today's parent.  When I saw that it was written by Gary Chapman (The 5 Love Languages) and Arlene Pellicane I knew I wanted to be in on the review.  This book addresses the problem of children and adults spending excessive amounts of time in front of the computer, phone, TV, etc.  They are all a part of our world, but how much is too much and does it really have a negative effect?

My family spends a lot of time using electronic devices.  Too much.  And this includes me.  In fact I may be the worst offender!  Let me be the first to tell you that I LOVE this book.  It didn't chastise me or make me feel guilty.  In fact it showed me that I'm a typical parent with good intentions that just hasn't followed through enough.  There is hope!  Thankfully Growing Up Social has lots of helpful advice and ideas to help me get my act together.

I appreciated how the authors showcased normal families with problems I can identify with.  It was a bit like the show "Super Nanny" in that it features typical situations and ways to improve them.  They highlight something called A+ Skills which are as follows:

Show Affection
Appreciate Others
Deal with Anger
Learn to Apologize
Pay Attention

Sadly, these skills are lacking in children that spend excessive amounts of time in front of an electronic screen.  They are not something we are born with but rather skills that need to be learned and nurtured.  Role playing, reinforcement and knowledge are required from the parent to nurture these skills in a child/teen.  It's never too late!

Propellor has generously given me a copy of this book to give to one of my readers!  Please comment on this post for a chance to win!  You'll definitely want to read this book...

Becoming Bea by Leslie Gould

My Thoughts:

Becoming Bea is the story of a young lady who loves books, journal writing and cats, but people- not so much.  At the beginning of the book she's in a quandary trying to find a job or be doomed to traveling with her domineering sister, Molly, on a trip to Montana.  She's thrilled when an opportunity arises to care for newborn triplets.  Much to her chagrin, Ben Rupp, a young man she'd attempted to court, seems to always pop up when she least expects it.  And then a surprise (Don Eicher) comes on the scene and things get interesting...

Becoming Bea begins slowly and it took me awhile to get into the story.  I found Bea a bit too prickly for my liking in the beginning, but was patient and loved her transformation through the book story.  I was intrigued by Ben Rupp from the start and found it hard to understand why Bea detested him so much.  Leslie Gould's first book in the series, Courting Cate, is one of my Amish favorites.  I enjoyed it so much that I've purchased copies to give to friends.  Becoming Bea was also enjoyable with Bea being a very unique young lady who just needs a bit of time and experience to help her grow into a lovely woman.

About the book: Can Bea and Ben Turn Rivalry Into Romance?

Beatrice Zook knows God wants her to learn patience toward others. When assisting a family overwhelmed by triplets proves surprisingly successful, her confidence in dealing with others, both young and old, grows.

One person she'll never be able to find peace with though is Ben Rupp. They've known each other forever, and Ben understands precisely how to antagonize her. What neither she nor Ben will admit is that beneath all their bickering, attraction awaits. When friends decide to try and bring the couple together, will the pair be able to find true love? Or will they damage their relationship beyond repair?

The Promise (by Beth Wiseman) takes your breath away!

    My Thoughts:

The Promise begins with exactly that- a promise.  Saving a life is Mallory Hammond's obsession due to the fact that she couldn't save her cousin's life years ago.  In order to move on with her other dreams she simply must complete this precious task- no matter what the cost.  The opportunity presents itself, but not in the way that Mallory ever imagined.  In order to save a life she must also be able to save her own.  The Promise is a heart-pounding, pulse racing story (based on actual events) involving love, lies and make your blood run cold danger.  At times I had to put the book down just to catch my breath!  I was blown away by the dedication (and naivete) of the main character, Mallory Hammond.  At the same time I was disgusted and saddened to read of the horrible way human beings can treat one another when it's "accepted" and even embraced in another culture.  The Promise is eye-opening and(Made my think of the movie Not Without my Daughter with Sally Field) terrifying, yet kindness and love are ever present.  An incredible book and one that you won't soon forget!

    About the book:

Mallory's search for happiness leads her to a faraway place. There she finds heartache, betrayal---and danger.
Mallory Hammond is determined that no one will stand in the way of her goal---to save a life. She had that chance years ago, and she failed to take it, leaving her adrift and in search of the real meaning of her life. Finally, she meets a man online from a volatile corner of the world who offers her the chance to find that purpose. But she will have to leave everyone she loves behind in order to take it.
Tate Webber has loved Mallory for many years. He understands that Mallory will never be happy with him until her deepest heart's desire is satisfied. When Mallory decides to travel across the world to fulfill her dreams, Tate begs her not to go but tries to give her the space she needs. Mallory embarks on her dangerous journey only to discover how swiftly and easily promises can be broken. And Mallory can only pray that she will make it out alive.
Inspired by actual events, The Promise is a riveting love story that asks the question: how far will we go for love?

In a daring new novel, Beth Wiseman jumps way outside the box. The Promise will take readers far away from Amish country and small Texas towns to a dangerous place on the other side of the world. Inspired by actual events, this is the book Beth has been working toward for a long time.
