About Me

My photo
Mysteries, polka dots, California Rolls, TJ Maxx, cozy blankets, rainy days and getting the first spoonful of peanut butter out of the jar make me smile. Spiders, rude people, cold fingers and toes, baby leashes, people that don't wrap their packages before going to the Post Office, poison ivy and Math (pretty much all of it) make me want to scream. My perfect day would be spent with my wonderful husband and sweet girls- watching movies in our jammies! Of course, having the movie theater to ourselves would be great, too. Please pass the popcorn and M&M's.:) I am saved by the grace of God. He is my constant companion and hears my every prayer. What a blessing! I'd love to hear from you! The Eggs Hatched!

Remember our little nest of eggs? Well, they hatched! Killdeer birds are special in that once their wings dry (after hatching) they are able to run! All four survived (we were so happy!) despite the terrible storms we had. Here is one of the little cuties in action...

This picture shows the Mom and one of her babies...

I truly thought the eggs would hatch and we would never see the babies. It was so special being able to witness this miracle...

Congratulations Ladies! Please e-mail me and let me know if you would like a 4th

toosillysisters@cox.net

Yesterday I found out that Borders hosts birthday parties- for FREE! They provide a hostess for storytime, some games, a room for your festivities and a discount on party supplies (if you so choose). They will even allow you to bring your own refreshments! Just think of the possibilities! Choose a fun theme (ex. pirates), ask them to read the children a pirate book, play a few pirate games, have a pirate craft and then a pirate cake! YOU will not have to clean up! That's the BEST part!:)

I am having such fun making these posies! Would YOU like one? If so, please leave a comment and I will choose a winner tomorrow!:)

All Aboard!

We woke up early Saturday morning to start Father's Day weekend off with a Chugga Chugga Toot! Toot! All Aboard!

The girls did a wonderful job keeping it a secret and it was so fun surprising Daddy with a train trip!:) He just couldn't figure out why we had to get up SO early on a Saturday...
These is first class, where we sat...

There was lots of this on the trip down...

And some of this on the return trip.:)

The train dropped us off for a few hours in the sweetest little town. There were lots of antiques and the nicest people! I thought this bird cage was precious...

Look at the ruffle on this quilt...

This little vignette was so quaint that I had to get a picture...

Yep, there was a fabric shop!

The girls loved the honey shop! The gentleman had everything you needed to start your own bee hives plus preserves, lotion and, of course, honey!

Here's a picture outside the little store. Even with the bee shortage, the owner told us that he has never had so many bees. His business is booming and we could not have been happier for him. He was the nicest man...

Loved the display of indian arrow heads...

Each store window was so lovingly put together...

We spent some time in an old bookstore, too. It even had it's own resident kitty.:)

I loved the old buildings...

The train trip was so much fun. The girls played Pokemon and the Polly Pocket card (thanks Grandma and Ba!) game. Jeff and I even got in on the action! I made a few phone calls (Amy, Angi, Heather, Mom!) and even got to read awhile...

Jeff and Katie played the Tank game, too.:)

This gentleman kept us entertained and nourished through out the trip. He sang old Irish songs, told jokes, gave history lessons, played the harmonica, juggled, etc... He was so charming! At one point we entered a tunnel and he turned out all the lights (for the full effect). I was a bit anxious about this, but as we first entered the tunnel he said, "If anyone is not having fun, please raise your hand." I just had to laugh! It was DARK!

Before we knew it we were back home. What an adventure!

This and That

I'm making this for dinner tonight. Taquitos! You must stop by the Ungourmet! She has inspired me with her recipes on several occasions. Try the muffins with the dried cranberries and chocolate chips. And her spaghetti!

I checked these books out today. Like I need more books to read. It's an addiction. Something Borrowed was recommended by Ruby Red Slippers and The Killing Circle was recommended by Harlan Coben. Love his books.

Went to a few yard sales, too, much to my girls' displeasure. Fabric $1!!!! All 7 feet (or so) of it. Yes, this gorgeous blue toile went home with me.:) Embroidery hoops $1 for 4. I was inspired by Jen and Elise. Thanks Sweets!:)

Added some goodies to my shop. I am loving this little Night Owl necklace. The amazing lapis beads are like the night sky... Inspired by my late night visit with Jamie.:)

Mermaid Dreams. I am crazy about the refreshing colors of the ocean...

Jeff bought this for me when we were at the beach. I saw it in a shop and was immediately in love...

My sister brought this back from Ireland for me! I was speechless! It was definitely made for me.:) Thanks Amy!

What are your big plans for Father's Day weekend? Ours is a secret, but I will share with you on Monday.:)

Lazy Days of Summer...

Oh, those lazy days of summer- NOT!
We have been running a mile a minute here.  How about you??
Tonight we made Chocolate Spiders with this fun book...

Look at how the book breaks up the recipe for Moms and Kids...

And this is the final product!:)

We have also been busy meeting friends for Storytime at the library...

Making forts!  Katie and Mandy are in it right now having a sleep-over.:)

Having picnics at the park and visiting the ducks and geese...

It is HOT!  And it's only going to get hotter- sigh...

As long as I have willing subjects for pictures, I am happy.  Oh, and a Cranberry Tea at Sonic works, too.:)
