About Me

My photo
Mysteries, polka dots, California Rolls, TJ Maxx, cozy blankets, rainy days and getting the first spoonful of peanut butter out of the jar make me smile. Spiders, rude people, cold fingers and toes, baby leashes, people that don't wrap their packages before going to the Post Office, poison ivy and Math (pretty much all of it) make me want to scream. My perfect day would be spent with my wonderful husband and sweet girls- watching movies in our jammies! Of course, having the movie theater to ourselves would be great, too. Please pass the popcorn and M&M's.:) I am saved by the grace of God. He is my constant companion and hears my every prayer. What a blessing! I'd love to hear from you! The Woodcarver movie review and giveaway!

The winner of "The Woodcarver" is Linda!

About the Movie:
Matthew Stevenson is a troubled kid from a broken home. When he vandalizes the local church to get back at his parents, Matthew has to repair the damage to the church to avoid criminal charges. While working at the church, he meets Ernest (John Ratzenberger), an accomplished wood carver who created the intricate woodwork decoration that Matthew destroyed. Ernest has become something of a hermit, but reluctantly comes out of reclusion to help repair the church. Now Ernest and Matthew must work together to preserve the church's beautiful antiquity, and along the way, they also manage to restore their faith in God and in life.

My Review:
My family and I watched The Woodcarver together and really enjoyed it.  Here are a few reasons why... The woodcarver, John Ratzenberger, (remember him from Cheers?) was wonderful in this dramatic role.  The young man in the story, Matthew, his parents and Ernest, the woodcarver, have all lost their way in life, straying from God.  This results in anger, frustration, yelling and bad feelings.  We have all been there, at times.  I have to admit that the Dad in the movie was a bit too angry for my liking, but my 9 year old did fine while watching.  How they find their way back to the Lord is told in the most beautiful way.   Have some tissues with you!  I loved watching the story unfold and the fact that there was no foul language!  Hurrah!  The woodcarver's cottage is charming, too.  It's a movie you can watch with your whole family.  You will be blessed, I just know it!
