About Me

My photo
Mysteries, polka dots, California Rolls, TJ Maxx, cozy blankets, rainy days and getting the first spoonful of peanut butter out of the jar make me smile. Spiders, rude people, cold fingers and toes, baby leashes, people that don't wrap their packages before going to the Post Office, poison ivy and Math (pretty much all of it) make me want to scream. My perfect day would be spent with my wonderful husband and sweet girls- watching movies in our jammies! Of course, having the movie theater to ourselves would be great, too. Please pass the popcorn and M&M's.:) I am saved by the grace of God. He is my constant companion and hears my every prayer. What a blessing! I'd love to hear from you! Write with World- TOS review

Write with WORLD is a two year middle school writing curriculum from the publishers of God's World News and WORLD magazine.  It includes separate teacher and student books and helps you to teach your child to write with purpose.  The program is refreshing in that it employs a thoughtful and meaningful Christian worldview.  The assignments in the book are flexible so your child can build her confidence and skills in using today's new media.  As you know, we cannot always believe what we hear!  We often must probe deeper to get to the truth.

Through Write with World, students are trained to truly think about what they see, read and believe.  One of the first exercises I did with my daughter had to do with advertising.  She was directed to pay attention to magazine ads, billboards, and TV advertisements throughout the day.  Then, she chose one and wrote about what tactics they used to sell their product, why we feel how we do about the product (explains in book), and more.  We had some very thoughtful conversations about the choices we make as consumers that day, let me tell you!

I was given the first year teacher and student book to review and I was quite impressed.  Concepts of comparative and critical reading, writing fundamental, narratives, reporting, reviewing, critique and opinion are all covered.  The assignments were interesting and engaging with pictures (love pictures as I am a visual learner).  They are broken down into easy lessons (always welcome in my book!) in a thoughtful manner.  The teacher's manual is also well written so you can confidently teach your child.

Write with WORLD is $95 a year (for Book 1) or $165 if you purchase books 1 and 2 at the same time.  This price includes access to the use website that will be coming in the fall of this year.  You can purchase the books here.

Disclaimer: I was given the student and teacher's editions of the first year of Write with World in exchange for my honest opinion.  No other compensation was received.
