About Me

My photo
Mysteries, polka dots, California Rolls, TJ Maxx, cozy blankets, rainy days and getting the first spoonful of peanut butter out of the jar make me smile. Spiders, rude people, cold fingers and toes, baby leashes, people that don't wrap their packages before going to the Post Office, poison ivy and Math (pretty much all of it) make me want to scream. My perfect day would be spent with my wonderful husband and sweet girls- watching movies in our jammies! Of course, having the movie theater to ourselves would be great, too. Please pass the popcorn and M&M's.:) I am saved by the grace of God. He is my constant companion and hears my every prayer. What a blessing! I'd love to hear from you! TruthQuest History- TOS review

TruthQuest History is a program that encourages you to think about history in a new way.  "For it is not first the story of mankind, but of the One who made mankind!"  Dates and places are dull and boring (but often necessary) but TruthQuest offers a more exciting and thoughtful curriculum.  At first look it seems that there are just lists of books but that's just the beginning!  There is a commentary that introduces each topic, ThinkWrite Questions to help students internalize key truths, reading lists, organized by grade level and an appendix which offers sample answers to help evaluate the student's knowledge.  I wish that history had been taught to me in this manner.  I love reading, but memorizing dates puts me to sleep!

Something else I'd like to mention that really meant a lot to me was the amazing customer service that TruthQuest offers it's customers. I had a few questions that needed answers, and when I emailed them they quickly (and very politely) wrote back to me.  They treated me like family instead of a number!  So, before I even opened their book I was already quite impressed.

I was a bit disappointed at the number of books (mentioned in the book lists in the guide) I was able to locate for our studies.  The lists are so extensive that I thought I would struggle with which ones to choose.  I ended up picking some books that were not mentioned and that turned out to be fine.

I am a list maker by nature, a complete type A personality and although I loved the whole idea of TruthQuest I'm doubtful I will continue this program.  I think it would be perfect, absolutely beautiful for an unschooling family!  How I wish I could relax and be that kind of Mom!  Alas, it's just not in me.

I was given TruthQuest's Age of Revolution II (America/Europe, 1800-1865) in a PDF form to review.  The list of book recommendations was extensive and impressive!  This book was created for 5-12th graders but younger children can also participate.   Not only did will you learn about history, but also art, culture and the spiritual truth of history!

See Table of Contents for Age of Revolution here.
See sample of Age of Revolution II here.

The bound books start at $24.95.
The PDF downloads start at $19.95.
