About Me

My photo
Mysteries, polka dots, California Rolls, TJ Maxx, cozy blankets, rainy days and getting the first spoonful of peanut butter out of the jar make me smile. Spiders, rude people, cold fingers and toes, baby leashes, people that don't wrap their packages before going to the Post Office, poison ivy and Math (pretty much all of it) make me want to scream. My perfect day would be spent with my wonderful husband and sweet girls- watching movies in our jammies! Of course, having the movie theater to ourselves would be great, too. Please pass the popcorn and M&M's.:) I am saved by the grace of God. He is my constant companion and hears my every prayer. What a blessing! I'd love to hear from you! Tales of the Defended Ones by Beth Guckenberger

My Thoughts:

In Tales of the Defended Ones, Beth Guckenberger opens our eyes to the fact that we all have story lines.  Every day our story lines occur in our family, church, school, sports, etc.  God is the Storyweaver and uses all of our experiences to shape how our story lines will affect ours lives and the lives of others.  It's a beautiful and perfect thing.  The "defended ones" are wounded people all over the world that are struggling with challenges.  Tales of the Defended Ones engages it's readers with stories of children in seemingly hopeless situations.  God uses regular people, by opening their hearts and minds, to come to the aid of these forgotten souls.  These stories will absolutely touch your heart!

Tales of the Defended Ones is written so that all ages can be empowered by it's words.  The use of pictures, definitions and facts to more explain the culture, situation and history of the stories were enriching and engaging.  I was particularly touched by the story of Jorani, the young Cambodian girl who tries to find work to support her grandmother and younger sisters.  She ends up unknowingly being sold into slavery, her life a living nightmare.  Sadly her story is not unusual.  God saw it all, though, and delivered her to a life of hope and love.  This book made me search my heart to discover how I could become a defender of children.  With God, all things are possible!  Beth Guckenberger is an inspiration and I believe she'll not only open your eyes, she'll set you on a quest to examine where your story lines are taking you.

About Tales of the Defended Ones: Ben and Joseph lose their mothers, but find a family looking just for them. Antonio is rescued from what seems like a hopeless situation. Caitlyn dares to trust that truth will set her free. Jorani is delivered from slavery into the arms of grace.
Follow these real-life stories as they take you on a journey to foreign places and extreme struggles. Travel through their challenges and see the hand of the great Storyweaver - our Defender God shielding and defending the defenseless in the amazing ways only he can. These are the tales of the ones left wounded and weak-ones made whole and strong . . .

That sounds like a wonderful book. It's easy to forget that we do all have story lines.
