About Me

My photo
Mysteries, polka dots, California Rolls, TJ Maxx, cozy blankets, rainy days and getting the first spoonful of peanut butter out of the jar make me smile. Spiders, rude people, cold fingers and toes, baby leashes, people that don't wrap their packages before going to the Post Office, poison ivy and Math (pretty much all of it) make me want to scream. My perfect day would be spent with my wonderful husband and sweet girls- watching movies in our jammies! Of course, having the movie theater to ourselves would be great, too. Please pass the popcorn and M&M's.:) I am saved by the grace of God. He is my constant companion and hears my every prayer. What a blessing! I'd love to hear from you! Diamond Dress

I adore my grandmother- my Mona Mom.  Her name is Mona and my Mom calls her Mom, so somewhere along the way Mona Mom was what I called her- and still do.  She loves the Lord with all her heart, has a voice like an angel, cooks like a gourmet and when we talk it's like talking to someone my own age, even though she is 84.  She is the ultimate kindred spirit.  Everyone loves her as she is kind, so kind, and so fun!:D  We even got our ears pierced together when I was 19!  She has a secret crush on Tom Selleck, dreams of going to Ireland, and plays the piano like a dream.  She is beautiful inside and out.  She is one of my best friends.
My grandparents will be celebrating their 60th anniversary this December.  My Mom is hosting a lovely dinner for them and has asked me to help.  When I was very young I told Mona Mom that I wanted to give her a "diamond dress".  Can you tell how much I love her?:)  Anyway, I am trying to think of some way to incorporate this into the dinner.  I don't know if she truly needs a diamond dress (do they even make such a thing???), but she loves to tell that story and it is something special that we share.  My dear friends, please let me know what ideas you have.  I would be so thankful....

Your theme could be "diamonds"...fake ones but you could have fun with it!!!
name tags shapped as a dress with glued diamond looking things...it could be endless!

I think a pendant of a dress covered in diamonds would be beautiful.

What about sugar cookies cut out in the shape of a dress, frosted, then sprinkled with sugar crystals. Sandy toes had good idea of having the party theme be diamonds. Michael's has fake ones that you could put in a hurricane or apothecary jar or scatter them on the table. You could put a bunch of white candles-all different sizes- on the table with that fake snow you just showed in the post before. Rock salt is pretty, too.
I will see if I can come up with anymore ideas.

I love Sandy Toes Idea-I know you can purchase a lot of this diamond/chrystal decor at Walmart in the wedding section. You might want to start there or a party supply place. Oh, I just read Elise's too...Great ideas-How exciting!
Mona Mom is beautiful~♥

If you do end up needing to glitter anything I have run into the most amazing glitter out there. Of course, wouldn't you know...it's made by Martha Stewart. But the good news is, that Walmart sells it. It sparkles like mad and takes very little for these amazing results!
If you're looking for a great 'dress stamp', I bought a set recently from either Michael's or JoAnn's. It's by Inkadinkadoo. The # on the package is 97607. To me, it looks like a 1950's ball gown on a hanger. Maybe you could even look it up online first???
One last idea...I was thinking that spreading all those candy "diamond" rings that kiddos suck on, on the tables might be cute...or corney???? Just food for thought. Good luck!

How about a cake in the shape of a dress covered in sparkly bits?
It's lovely you are close to your Grandma. I am close to mine. She is 94 and very good company. She always makes me laugh with her funny stories.
Good luck with planning the 60th anniversary. I love all the super suggestions from your readers.

I wish I was as creative as some of these chicks. But I'm stumped. I really LOVE the idea of a diamond studded dress pendant.

You're great at designing jewelery. So, I could see you doing something like that.

How about a life-size cardboard Tom Selleck at the party! ;P

You are making me think of my Great Grandmother that I adored as a child. Someday in heaven I will get to spend eons getting to know her better.

Cannot wait to see what you guys come up with :0} Not sure it is in the budget but, what about buying her a modest white sequence dress?
